... so called because it was off limits to the "commoner" for 500 years. It was home to 2 major dynasties and is the largest cluster of ancient buildings in China. It takes a whole day to go thru it and can be described as "Amazing!" My mom, the teacher, was extremely fascinated! We entered thru the building with Mao Ze Dong's pic hanging on it- the Chinese hold him in very HIGH esteem and his pic and souvenirs are everywhere!

Again some of the Chinese were very fascinated with us "foreigners" and this elderly woman just stared and stared at us. It was really kinda cute. Once we smiled at her, she lit up and was soooo pleased to have her pic made. Isn't she precious! Enjoy!
