While in Xi'An we saw these two boys. Morning told us the meaning behind the bangs, shaved head and long rat-tail/braid down their back. Many of the Chinese are incredibly superstitious believing that this long hair, bangs, etc. will ensure their son a long life.
The picture with the first little boy was taken on a little trip out of town. His mother approached mom asking if her son could take a picture with her. Westerners are a novelty and of course my mother was only too happy to oblige.
